2022 Read-A-Thon Fundraiser

On Monday, January 24, 2022 we will launch or beloved Read-A-Thon!
Immersed in a soon to be revealed literary theme brought to life by our librarian Ms. Pam and the amazing Read-A-Thon volunteer team, our students will be assigned to one of four teams, and will compete to see who can read the most. Encouraging our students to read and fostering some friendly competition, the Read-A-Thon is always a special time of year.
Given our success last year and the limitations that COVID-19 continues to put on our fundraising activities, the Read-A-Thon will be a fundraiser again this year. This event provides us with an opportunity to reach out to our family and friends and ask them to support our incredible school and to ensure that we have the resources we need to provide the specialists classes (PE, music, art, and garden), teaching aides, technology and other extras that help make Open the special school that it is.

We hope you will help!
In the next week before the official launch of the Read-A-Thon we are asking each of you to:
- Set up a family fundraising page on Rally Up using these Instructions
- Reach out to at least 10 family members, friends and colleagues via email, text or social media to ask them to support your child(ren) in their reading challenge.
Once your family sends an email or text to ten or more people, or makes a social media post, fill out this form select one of the following incentives that will be delivered to your student(s) in class:
- A gift card from the Book Jewel, an independent bookstore in Westchester ($5 value)
- A free kids meal at Rock & Brews in El Segundo ($9 value)
- A free personalized pizza from Shakey's ($6 value)
We have even more community incentives!
If we collectively reach our $50,000 goal all students will earn extended recess time and a popsicle party!
If we exceed last year's earnings ($65,000) additional playground equipment will be purchased for the Open School Yard for all our students to enjoy.
